We are currently working on a connected industrial data platform that runs on industrial PCs with Linux. This platform collects and processes data from PLC controllers via protocols such as Simatic, OPC, and Modbus, stores time series data, and integrates into cloud applications.
As a new team member, you will play a key role in further developing and improving this system. You will work on both edge development (on the device) and cloud development (preferably AWS) to ensure seamless, scalable, and reliable data processing.
Your Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer (Industrial IoT, Edge & Cloud) to join our team and contribute to our connected industrial data platform.
The platform runs on industrial PCs with Linux, collecting data from PLC controllers using Simatic, OPC, and Modbus, storing time series data, and connecting to cloud applications.
In this role, you will work on both Edge and Cloud solutions. You will develop and implement microservices in Docker containers that communicate via a message broker.
Your focus will be on reliable data acquisition, efficient storage, and seamless cloud integration. You will play a key role in optimizing and scaling the system.
Your Responsibilities:
- Developing and maintaining microservices in Docker containers on industrial PCs with Linux.
- Implementing and optimizing data acquisition from PLC controllers using Simatic, OPC, and Modbus.
- Designing and improving message communication between microservices using a message broker.
- Developing cloud applications for processing and storing industrial data.
- Ensuring reliable data storage with InfluxData products and optimizing performance for large data volumes.
- Collaborating with automation engineers to integrate the software into industrial systems.
- Contributing to architecture decisions to enhance system performance and maintainability.
Your Profile:
- Completed degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Experience in backend development, particularly in an industrial environment
- Knowledge of IoT technologies and their application
- Familiarity with edge computing concepts and cloud platforms
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
